Stampin’ Up! offers many colors of Embossing Powder

Stampin’ Up! makes embossing powders that are high quality, perform well and have a long shelf life. However, any embossing powder can be effected by humidity which can cause it to clump. Here are a few tips to help avoid problems.

Always keep your containers of embossing powder tightly covered when not in use.

Keep a silica gel packet in the container if you have ever had clumped powder or experience humid seasons. Silica gel packets are small and usually white with blue writing. They’re typically found in the box when you purchase new shoes. They can be found packed inside new purses and other products as well.

If you find clumps in your embossing powder it doesn’t mean it’s gone bad. Simply pour the powder into a larger container, cover and shake vigorously to break up the clumps. Then place and keep a silica gel packet in the container to prevent future clumping. The gel packets should last about 2 years.

Snow and Best Wedding Gift EVER!

It's snowing in Raleigh, NC!!! Yes, it happens, but not very often. My husband told me he enjoys walking in the snow because the sounds are so muffled. This is news to me. After all these years, I'm still learning about this guy. Keeps life interesting. So, I asked him if he'd like to go for a walk and he said yes. Back when we were dating we went backpacking with some friends. Since I was new to this, I didn't have any decent hiking boots. A few of the guys (yes, guys!) got together and bought me a pair of good hiking boots as a wedding gift.

Those boots have served me well and still do! After all these years, they still fit and I still love them!

I've had fun digging up that old photo and the memories. Wonder how I added the words and the tag onto the photos? Valentine Heart Garland!

Happy Valentine's Day! I saw a pretty felt heart garland on Pinterest and wanted to make one, too. The instructions said to cut hearts out using a scissors, but I really didn't want to hand-cut dozens of hearts out of felt. Oh, my aching hand! So I tried an experiment – would our Hearts Collection Framelits die-cut felt? Yes! In fact, I cut 3 at a time with no problem! Woo Hoo!

After I had die cut all I thought I needed, I stacked half of them together: red-red-white, red-red-white. I made a second stack just the same and had an extra red one set aside as the center of the garland. I sewed them together by machine stitching from the bottom point of the heart, through to the center of the heart's top, then letting the machine run off the heart and keep running to twist the thread & make a thin cord of sorts, then added the next heart till I had half of them sewn together. Without cutting the thread, I then sewed the next heart – the red center heart – horizontally through it's center and then added the remaining hearts stitching from the top through to the bottom point. If you look at the photos, it'll make sense how I did it.

I gave the garland to my daughter (her fireplace is much prettier than mine) and I like the way it looks with the string of clear lights she has on there. Here's a shot of the way it hangs off the end. I really like how it looks! Her roommate likes it, too, and suggested that I make more garlands for other occasions. I'll see what I can come up with now that I know how easy it is when I use the Framelits dies!

My Digital Tuesday – Valentine page

Today I tried my hand at making something I saw on Pinterest.
This was so easy to do using My Digital Studio 2! First I made the background red and added a white layer. Then I added the word "valentine" vertically. Next, I added each line of text seperately and positioned it over the "valentine" word. After I got them all positioned, I deleted the vertical word and then changed all the appropriate letters to the color red. The hearts are made from punches with drop shadows added. You can make this any size you want from a card front to an entire page that you can print and frame.

Perfectly Preserved Valentine

I made this card using My Digital Studio2, but you could also make it the traditional way. The picture didn't turn out too well, not sure what happened. Let me assure you it looks great IRL (in real life).
