Stampin’ Q&A: Cleaning Clear Mount Stamps

Q:  Sometimes when I'm cleaning a clear mount stamp it falls off the block and I can't clean it.  What am I doing wrong?

A:  Maybe you're scrubbing too hard.  The clear mount stamps are designed to be temporarily attached to the clear blocks so we need to clean more gently to avoid them coming off unintentionally.  The  smaller the stamp, the more gentle we must be.   Small stamps = small surface area clinging to the block.  Large stamps = large surface area clinging to the block.  The way I clean my clear mount stamps is to first spray Stampin' Mist on my Stampin' Scrub and then gently rub the stamp in a circular motion.

Stampin' Mist is important for several reasons:

  1. It is designed to effectively clean ink from rubber
  2. It contains ingredients to condition the rubber, ensuring that it will not dry out or become unusable
  3. Because it wets the Stampin' Scrub, it decreases the friction created by rubbing the stamp on the scubber which can pull the stamp off the block.

You don't need to be worry if your stamp gets stained by ink as that can surely happen, however it will not effect the performance of your stamp.  Your stamped images will not become blurry or distorted unless ink or debris is allowed to accumulate on it.  Use these tips and you'll have success cleaning your clear mount stamps!
Also remember to keep all stamps stored away from direct sunlight as that will dry the rubber and cause it to harden and become unusable.
