Big Shot Magnetic Platform is awesome! Urgent news!

I just got my Magnetic Platform yesterday and I have to tell you – it is SO worth it!!  Works better than I imagined! The magnetic surface is definitely strong and holds the framelits and edgelits securely where I place them and keeps them in place while it rolls through the Big Shot for perfectly die cut images.  I strongly urge you to order by midnight tomorrow to avoid an extra long wait.

From the home office:

July 15, 2013

Due to an unfortunate backorder situation, the Big Shot Magnetic Platform (item 130658) will be temporarily turned off Thursday, July 18, at 12:01 AM (MT). This means that you won’t be able to buy it until further notice.

Here are answers to some of the questions you might have:

Why are you doing this?
We went through what we thought would be a 13-week supply of the Magnetic Platform in just three weeks, and rather than continuing the backorder situation for you and your customers, we believe it’s best to make it unavailable for purchase until we can replenish our inventory. Our supplier is working at capacity to meet our demand, and we will continue working closely with them to get the situation addressed as quickly as possible.

When will the Magnetic Platform be available?
We expect that it will be available early fall.

What if I already ordered it when it was on backorder?
We’ll fill all closed backorders as we get more Magnetic Platforms in. We are receiving periodic shipments from our vendor and as soon as they come in we’ll fulfill orders in the approximate order they were received.

Remember, you have until Thursday, July 18, at 12:01 AM (MT) / MIDNIGHT Wednesday, July 17 to close current Magnetic Platform orders (or make a new one); all of these placed orders will be on backorder.

Don’t forget you can Buy 3 and Get 1 FREE Designer Series Paper through the end of the month.

Here’s a chance to win $25 in FREE Stampin’ Up! product!!

Just use Hostess Code QF6V6DCD when you place an online order before noon on Monday, July 29, 2013.  Yes you can add things from the clearance rack and digital downloads, too!

My Digital Studio color matching tutorial

Hi!  It’s another My Digital Tuesday and here’s a fun scrapbook page I made using MDS (My Digital Studio) and a photo my daughter sent me this morning.color matching with My Digital Studio
Meet Guenhwyvar (Gwen – a – var) a sweet natured kitty.  She’s so amazingly soft and so black that all previous pictures of her turned out as nothing more than a  black blob with glowing eyes.  I just love this picture because you can see how pretty she is and how strikingly beautiful her eyes are.  I wanted to make a scrapbook page using MDS so I could create mats under the photo that perfectly color matched her eyes!  It’s so easy to do!  Begin by adding your photo to the page.  Click on the photo to select it and then click on Mat. You will see a window pop up like this: MDS Photo mat

To change the color of the mat from white to the green in her eyes, click the word Change and the next window will pop up.

MDS Mat Color PickerSee where it says Picker? Click that and another window like the one below will pop up.MDS Color Picker window

The square to the right will be white until you hover your cursor over the photo on the left.  Move your cursor over the photo until the little plus sign (+) is on the color you want, then click your mouse.  The selected color will then appear in the rectangular bar at the bottom.  When it’s the color you want, click OK.  Now you’ll see this window:MDS Mat Size adjustment

See the slider to the right of the word Size?  Move that to adjust the width of the mat.  When you have the size you want, click OK and you’re done!  Do you have questions about My Digital Studio?  Add a comment and let me know!  Still haven’t tried MDS yourself?  How about a free trial?Start Your MDS FREE 30 Day Trial

Card Idea and a New Video Tutorial Coming Soon!

Purchased card by Recycled Paper GreetingsI hope you all had a fun day yesterday to celebrate Father’s Day.  We sure did!  Our older daughter, Sarah,  came and cooked for us.  She makes the best fish tacos!  In fact, she introduced us to them.  Our younger daughter, Tracy,  and her boyfriend joined us and they brought dessert.  Tracy has a really fun sense of humor and this is the Father’s Day card she brought.  The inside reads;  Especially that potty training thing!  (I can’t tell you how many times that has come in handy.)   You can imagine how much fun we had with that!

I’m showing you a purchased card today to show you that, with a little humorous wording, you can easily create a card using a photo of your own.  Remember this card?  I used a photo I took and used it to make a card.  It’s fun and oh, so easy!  Be sure to come and visit me tomorrow because (drum roll!) I’ve made a video tutorial showing you how!  Another example of a card I made using a photo can be seen HERE, and THIS ONE is a scrapbook page, but could be resized to make a card.   So don’t forget to come back tomorrow to see the video and in the meantime, why not get your FREE 30 day trial of My Digital Studio?  I’ll be showing you how to use it soon!

Designer Tips for using Simply Pressed Clay and Simply Pressed molds

Buttons & Blossoms Simply Pressed MoldsDidn’t you just love the card I made yesterday using the Simply Pressed Clay flower I made?  I can’t begin to tell you how much fun that was!  As I was experimenting, I learned some do’s and don’ts that I’d like to share with you.

1. If you’re going to add a drop of ink to color the clay, don’t use vinyl gloves to prevent inky pinkies.  It sticks like crazy!  Use a zip top sandwich bag or some of those super cheap polyethelyne gloves like you see food service people using.  The clay won’t stick to either of those.
2. The clay is very moist and adding a drop or two of ink makes it even more moist, so it can stick in the mold.  You can dust the mold with your Embossing Buddy, some Dazzling Diamonds glitter or if you still have any – the Stampin’ Pastels that retired a few years ago.  Or just let it sit in the mold to dry before trying to pop it out.
3. You can easily adhere your finished flowers or buttons to our project with Tombow Multi-purpose glue or a few glue dots.  They weigh next to nothing!

That’s about it.  Just have fun experimenting.  The clay is only $6.95 for a bag that will last and last, so you’ll be able to make lots and lots of DIY embellishments!

As I learn more from my experiments, I’ll be sure to let you know!  Ready to make your own DIY embellishments?  Get your own Simply Pressed Clay and molds today!  You’ll be glad you did!

Simply Pressed Blossoms! Easy DIY Flower Embellishments!

Buttons & Blossoms Simply Pressed MoldsToday I took some time to play with the new Simply Pressed Clay and the Buttons & Blossoms Simply Pressed Clay Molds. I brushed a tiny bit of Dazzling Diamonds glitter into the mold and then pressed a small bit of clay into the mold. After a few minutes I was able to carefully pop it out. After it dried, I used a brush to brush on some Daffodil Delight ink. Viola!  A simple DIY flower embellishment that is so light weight you won’t believe it and all it takes is a small amount of Tombow Multipurpose Glue (my favorite!) to attach it. I’m going to be doing this a lot! It’s so fun and easy to make DIY embellishments! This card uses the same DSP and stamp set as yesterday’s card.  How do you like today’s card?  Want to hear more about Simply Pressed Clay and molds?  Write a comment and let me know what you’d like to see next!  Can’t wait to get your own?  You can order yours right HERE!

Beautiful new Mosiac Punch and Modern Mosiac Embossing Folder

Mosiac Punch & Modern Mosiac Embossing Folder Today I wanted to show you some of the exciting new items from the just released 2013-2014 Annual Catalog.  I just love the way Stampin’ Up! makes it so easy to design by offering beautifully coordinating products.  Just look at this card!  The Pear Pizzazz layer was embossed using the new Modern Mosiac Embossing Folder.  The fun little punched pieces are from the beautiful new Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper that were punched out using the new Mosiac Punch.  I used the Oh Hello stamp set and Night of Navy ink for my sentiment and punched it out using our Extra-Large Oval Punch.  The layer is then adhered onto a Night of Navy card.  How do you like the way I was able to easily create this beautiful, coordinated card so easily?  Leave me a comment!  Pin this card!

Customer Helpline: Help! My Embossing Powder has clumps in it!

Stampin' Up! Embossing Powder

Stampin’ Up! offers many colors of Embossing Powder

Stampin’ Up! makes embossing powders that are high quality, perform well and have a long shelf life.  However, any embossing powder can be effected by humidity which can cause it to clump.  Here are a few tips to help avoid problems.

Always keep your containers of embossing powder tightly covered when not in use.

Keep a silica gel packet in the container if you have ever had clumped powder or experience humid seasons.  Silica gel packets are small and usually white with blue writing.  They’re typically found in the box when you purchase new shoes.  They can be found packed inside new purses and other products as well.

If you find clumps in your embossing powder it doesn’t mean it’s gone bad.  Simply pour the powder into a larger container, cover and shake vigorously to break up the clumps.  Then place and keep a silica gel packet in the container to prevent future clumping.  The gel packets should last about 2 years.

Did you find these tips helpful?   Leave a comment and let me know!   Susan ; )
